☆ Daisy, pregnant cow extraordinaire, is having her baby!!!! ☆
The BIG question: boy or girl? male or female? bull or heifer?
Leave your guess in the comment section!
After the birth – and once things calm down – I will randomly select one person with the correct guess and that person will receive a very special prize (because this is a very special event).
One entry per person please! I may not know if you cheated, but you will, and that takes the fun out of it, doesn’t it?!
☆ I know I’ll be asked what I’m hoping for ~ a male calf or a female calf ~ and what I’m really hoping for is a live calf, and one that survives. Daisy loves being a mother and I want her to have that opportunity more than anything. It’s nerve-wracking to have her calve this time of year. (She was bred when I bought her so I had no choice in the matter.)
Beyond that ~ at first, I was hoping for a heifer calf (female). Because then she would grow up to be a dairy cow, too! I thought if Daisy had a male calf, it would be destined for Charlie’s belly. BUT! THEN! I had an idea!
One of my far-off dreams has been to have a team of horses to help me do farm work ~ tilling the fields I don’t yet own, feeding hay from a wagon or sleigh pulled by the team…. more connection to time, animals, and earth; less dependency on gasoline.
And I realized, if Daisy births a boy, I can raise him as a steer (castrated male) and he will be my Plow Cow! Hurrah!!! {My my, I keep going further back in time, and keep accumulating animals… and I love it…..}
So, I will be thrilled with either. But I can’t wait to see your guesses!

………..it doesn’t matter at the end of the day…as long as it is healthy and strong…..and both mother and calf are ok
