Oh, what a stunning image. His fur makes him look almost like a Husky, but the long legs and more delicate skull speak to his real ancestry.
Love the bowed stalks around him, each with their delicate hood of snow. Even for your skills, that’s an exceptional photo.
Happy New Year to all the Farmily.

He is so beautiful. I love his collar! Shreve’s pictures are so breathtaking!
Happy New Year to a sweet boy.

How magnificent and wise, as he holds his head high-with eyes like two suns, he looks to the sky- pondering with the greatness above on how to shatter the illusions below. With his quick and cunning ways, sometimes the lessons can be cruel. As we become hypnotized with the game, he pulls something out of the blue. And as we stand there in shock, is when coyote, quietly and masterfully sneaks in to the subconscious and renders his greatest gift, a healing, and magically without missing a step, he’s back. And as we stand perplexed on the edge of consciousness, he wonders what all the fuss was about!

What a beautiful picture of Charlie! When I look at pictures of him I find that it warms my heart and brings a sense of calmness. I just love looking at and hearing about Charlie!

Just became aware of this blog. Really like the fine photographs and the notes on Charlie. We have a robust population of coyote here on the Connecticut shoreline. Because they are so shy we rarely have the opportunity to see them but, when we do, they are happy, glossy, healthy and large. Hiking in the woods I have pack yips at me to let me know they are there. I have always been interested in how canids came to be domesticated. Your blog provides really interesting information on traits shared by Canis lupus familiars and Canis lupus latrans. Thanks.

I am coming near the end of the book “The Daily Coyote” by Shreve Stockton, which is a very good book. I took my German Shephard, at two days of age and by two months his ears were perked right up. German Shephards have ears that come straight up but not at two months of age. His mom and her mom were both purebred German Shephards but his mom was mixed with something and I never knew what. I searched the net over trying to find what type of dog has ears like this. Then, I picked up the book “The Daily Coyote” by Sherve Stockton and saw the pictures. I do believe that maybe, my dogs mom was mixed with Coyote

That is I meant to say that the mom of my dog was mixed with something when she got pregnant with the pup that I took at two days of age.

Re: Marvena
I knew a coyote-dog mix back in the 80s. A fine pup. Do not know the breed of the dog side but this one had the long legs and general coat color of c.l.l.

Charlie is beautiful. My dog has the same shape ears, face and body. Maybe, not so long in the legs and Charlie looks to be a little bigger. My dog’s colour for the most part is that of Charlie’s underneath his ear, maybe just a bit darker. He howls too (especially when he hears sirens) but, apparently some dogs do that. Apparently, they think that they are answering other dogs.
