Charlie and the cat are so tight, fast friends, bros. I went outside to check on Charlie the other day and he and the cat were lying side by side on their backs under the little tamarask tree in the canyon, just looking at eachother and the leaves around their faces, telling stories.

Charlie’s got a bit of an identity crisis going on – he comes when I say “Charlie” and also comes when I say “Kitten!” There’s one large tree on the route of our daily walkabout that the cat often climbs for the fun of it – scrambling up to the top branches and then straight down – and yesterday Charlie was trying so hard to figure out how to climb the tree. He put his front paws on the tree trunk, and I could just see him thinking, “OK, I reach my front legs up, THEN WHAT??”
